Harkness, president of the Wellington Chamber of Commerce, and others, have represented that the ari-angoment to run an invitation train from Wellington on the night of November 3 will clash with the opening of the Manawatu Show, and after consultation with tho Auckland Chambor of Commerce, a postponement'of the date has been decided on. It was rosolved yesterday that tho train shall leave Wellington on the night of Thursday. November 5. after a banquet to be held here. The official ceremony will take place the next morning during a _ half-hour's stoppage at Makatote, and a dinner will be hold in tho evening at Auckland. POSITION OF COUNTRY CHAMBERS. Mr. H, Tolley (president of the Foilding Chamber of Commerce) has written to the Wellington Chamber of Commerce regarding the 'official opening of the Main Trunk line. He has pointed out that the ceremonv should not be confined to Auckland and Wellington, but that tho cotintry chambers should bo asked to take part in the opening of the line, which affects country districts as much as either of the big citics. The country chambers should, therefore, bo invited to assist in the opening ceremony.
