Mr. 'William Buss, who lived for a great many years at Raugiora, died on Thursday at his residence in Christchurch (states a Press Association telegram) at tho ago of G8 years. Mr. Buss was born in 1340 at Sellinge, Kent, England, and arrived in Lyttelton by tho ship Roman Empire in 1860. In 1802 Mr. Buss founded a largo auctioneering business, which ho successfully conducted for forty years, retiring in 1902. Ho claimed to have hold an auctioneer's license continuously for a longer period than any other auctioneer m Canterbury, and ho was the first resident auctioneer in' the district. He was first secretary of the Northern Agricultural and Pastoral Association, and held tho offices of secretary and treasurer for fifteen years. Ho was subsequently president of the.
