At an inquiry to-day, into the deatli of James Mitchell Glover, a carter, whose body was discovered in the Battery Road Lagoon, Mr. H. W. Brabant, coroner, found'that there was no evidence to show how Nor by what means deceased was drowned.

FALL THROUGH A SKYLIGHT. Auckland, October 16. William Podgers, a man employed at the Auckland Club, met with a nasty accident to-day. Ho was cleaning a skylight', and fell through to the floor, a distance of about 15 or 16 feet. Podgers was badly cut about tho legs, and underwent an operation to-day at the hospital on account of an a'rtery in one arm having been severed. Tho man fell flat on his back, and a heavy sheet of plate-glass fell on top of him. OVERDOSE OF STRYCHNINE. (BT TELEGEAPH—tRESfI ASSOCIATION.) Dunedln, October 16. Tho police have received advice that William Ashley, manager of the Berkeley Estate, died suddenly at Honley this a.fternoon from an overdose of strychnine, believed to havo been.self-administered. RUN OVER BY A TRUCK. Nelson, October 16. A yoimg man named Mead, employed on tho railway siding at Kiiwi, was run over by a truck to-day. He was brought to the hospital, but tho doctors havo not yet been able to ascertain his injuries. A private letter brings news' of an unfortunate shooting accident at Perth, W.A. Mr. A. S. K. Roe,' Commissioner of the Stfpremo Court, and a police magistrate, had been out on a shooting expedition at Rock Nest, an island off Fremantle, with his wifo and son (Bged 15), and a friend. On the return trip Mrs. Roe was accidentally shot by her son. About an hour' and a half elapsed before the oil launch came to land, and Mrs. Roo was promptly conveyed to. tno hospital. Her injuries proved fatal. Commissioner Roe visited the Dominion some time ago. Mr. Walter Archer, of Oxford Road, broko ono of his legs on Thursday. Mr. Archer broko tho samo log a few years ago.
