WELLINGTON RUGBY UNION. Commitrteo of tho Weilington Rugby Union met last night. There wore present:—Mr. Hales (in tlio chair), and Messrs. Burns, O'Sullivan, Perry, Alpe, Hardham, 'and Murray. . Messrs. V. R'. Meredith and F. Roberts were appointed to take the places of Messrs. J. Lynskoy and J. Murray (who intimated that thoy would be unable to attend) as two of the delegates of the union.at the special meeting of the New Zealand Union regarding , proposed amendments to the. laws of ' the game.; The- Wellington Football Association applied for tho. use of the. Athletic Park on Saturday for tho filial in their Benior cham.pionship. It was stated that several cricket pitches were being prepared on the property. The cftmmittee decided to reply that it regretted it was unable to grant the request. The" Wellington' Cricket Association wrote with refoienco to its proposal to lease. tho Athletic Park during the summer months. It . was of opinion that a conference between • the bodies'would prove the most'desirable mariner in settling the terms. The com-mittee.-agreed to the suggestion, and , appointed Messrs. S. Brown, Hales, and Alpe to represent the union at tho conference. Ij.' E-.'Magee, who is under suspension for five iyears; from the 1906 season submitted reasons in support of his application for the removal of the disqualification. ' It was decided to inform the writer that he 'had not advanced sufficient • reasons to warrant the committee in forwarding the application on to the New Zealand Union. * It was reported that it had been agreed at the conference between members of the.comniitteo and tho Reserves Committee or tho Hutt-Borough Council that the following arrangement should be entered into with rospect to the use of the Hutt Recreation Ground by the union next season: —Four senior, matches to be played there-next season; union to pay the council £25 and 33 1-3 per ceiit. of the net gates. It was agreed to endorse the arrangement. • -The Kia-Ora Club asked ihe committee to submit;,'to the New Zealand-Union an en-closed.-,protest against the. junior championship being awarded to the retone Club. It will be remembered that in the final match, which .ended in a draw, Kia Ora played Tannnhill;'who had'been classified as a senior player.The club, said that some weeks previous to the classification the senior championship had been closed; and even bad that not : been, so TanriahiJl would not have been able to play senior, as the_, highest graded team in the cfistrict was a junior team. It considered that it had. not_ been treated in a.just manner by the committee. It was resolved, that the protest be forwarded'on together with a .copy of the rules governing the classification of players. , It was reported that the net proceeds inconnection with * tho,. Charity Cup match amounted to £26 6s. 6d. The greater portion of ' arfiour.t was allocated among players ■ inju'red during the season, and the balance-Was put-to the credit of the Insurance : Fund.'- . ./ .
