YOUNG WOMEN'S CHRISTIAN ASSOCIATION.

The annual meeting of the Young Women's Christian Association was held yesterday evening in tlio Y.AV.C.A. llooms, Mrs. M'Clay presiding. The minutes of tho last annual meeting wcro rea'd and confirmed. The report and balance-sheet wero read ami carried.' Tho balance-sheet showed a credit balanco of £5 Us. 3d., tho receipts for tho year amountng to £290 10s. 3d., including £51 lis. Id. Irom members' fees, £115 lis. 7d. from donations, and £40 17s. lid. from the luncheon room. - Most of tho matters mentioned in tho report have been reported in these columns from time to time during tho year. The membership now stands at 448. Four members of tho committeo luitl resigned, and threo now ones were elected, Mrs. Climie, Mrs. C. M. Luke, and Mrs. W. S. Georgo. The officers aro elected by tho committee later on. Mrs. Chappie made a littlo speech, and Mr. Webster, who is a member of tho Advisory Board, spoko at some length. He congratulated tho association on tho position it had secured for its new home, and spoko of the necessity of maintaining a high ideal, and of never being content with any achievement. The association should aim at having a boarding establishment, but this was essentially a question of funds, and he thought they were doing very wisely in trying to accumulate tho necessary sum. Miss Lawson, who was railed on to speak, cxprossed her appreciation of the splendid spirit of co-operation that existed between the girls. Mrs. Webster moved a vote of thanks to Mrs. TToby, who luid for long acted as lion, secretary for the association ; to Miss Anderson, the lion.'treasurer; to Miss Lawson, who lias worked untiringly for the girls; and to Mr. C. I). Morpeth, the auditor. Tho motion was socondod by Miss YVhito, and earned. I
