• arrival at Wellington. AN UNEVENTFUL VOYAGE. Yesterday morning the Shaw-Savill linor Athenic, from London, via Capetown and Hobart, which arrived in the harbour on Monday night, was granted pratique and berthed at No. 1 South, Queen's Wharf. She left Royal Albert Docks on August'2l, and shortly aftor dropped anchor at Gravesend, wliere, after embarking passengers, mails, etc., she left for Plymouth, arriving there after a fine trip on, August 22. More passengers, mails, etc., were on, and the vessel continued her journey the following morning, and reached. Santa Cruz on August 27. Bunker supplies and fresh water having been shipped, the Athenic started out for Capetown, which port was reached on September 11. Variable weather was encountered on tho run across, but nothing exceptional was experienced. The journey to Hobart was commenced the same evening, and strong winds to moderate gales from north-west to south-west and high seas were luet with. Mewstone was passed on September 30, and the same day the vessel arrived in Hobart. The Athenic landed at Hobart general cargo and mails, and disembarked 12 saloon passengers, embarked six, and left for Wellington on Thursday, October 1, at 6.57 a.m. She encountered a strong S.E.gale and veryhijjn seas and fresh easterly winds with rough head sea to IGOdeg. E., then moderate northerly winds and fine weather to Cape Farewell, which was passed on October 5 at 10.5 a.m. Tho Athenic' brings a large parcelpost mail, and also mails from Capotown and Hobart, and about 7000 tous of general cargo from England for Dominion ports. Captain C. H. Keinpson, R.N.R., is in com. mand. Lieut. V. W. llicKson, R.N.R., is chief officer; Lieut. Rob. Reid, R.N.R., is chief engineer; and Mr. S. C. J. Freeman-Matthews is the purser. Otlier officers are as follow: —Lieut. G. A. Alcock, R.N.R., first officer; Mr. F. G. Burd, second officer; Mr. W. S. Thornton, third officer; Mr. E. li. Irving, fourth officer; Mr. Geo. Saville, second engineer; Mr. H. Purvis, t'lird engineer; Sir. G. Holme, fourth engineer; Mr. J. Coulter, fifth engineer; Mr. It. Ritchie, sixth engineer; Mr. C. Newton, first refrigerating engineer; Mr. W. M. Horsburgh, second engineer; Mr. 11. Eastwood, boilermakcr;' Slr._ W. Ilanlan, R.N.R., electrician; Dr. T. O. Linton Palmer, surgeon; Mr. 11. T. G. 'Harle, chief steward. The Athenic brings 6SS passengers all told. A list of those who embarked at England was published last week, and in addition tho following travellers for this port joined the vessel en route:—At Capetown: First saloon— Mr. and Mrs. A. I!.- Dale. .Second saloon— Sir. T. Ilarbey. At Hobart: First saloon— Mosdames Rolleston, n. F. Johnston, Whitney, Si v. F. P. Whitney. At Hobart: Second saloon —Sirs, and Miss Fanning.
