WAIMATE, FOR LONDON. To-morrow the New Zealand Shipping Company's liner Waimate is expected to arrive from '.:cr, al| d at. this port will take, in bunker supplies, previous to sailing for London, probably on Friday. THE TAIERI. Under the auspices of the Maoriland Shipping Company the Taieri nas completed her first voyage. The company has been informed that she arrived at Adelaide from GreymoutU on Saturday morning. FIRST BUTTER SHIPMENT. A Press Association message reports that the s.s.' Gorimia left Onohunga on Sunday for New Plymouth and Wellington, taking away the first butter shipment of the season, amounting to 2995 boxes, as compared with 2500 last year. The.Corinna has also on board 12,000 feet of sawn timber. • ATHENIC, FROM LONDON. She will be visited by tho Health and Customs officials this morning, and granted pratique, after winch sho berths at No. 1 South Queen's Wharf. THE STAR OF SCOTLAND. The local agents, Messrs. Baunatyne and Co., announce that the Tyser steamer Star of Scotland is bringing from New \ork about 1000 tnns of cargo for Wellington. She arrived at Melbourne oil Friday (three days early"), and is due at this port about October 23. THE KAIPAKA. ■ The New Zealand Shipping Company's steamer Kiapara, which has been on the lay up berth at Picton for some time, is under orders to leave Picton for Wellington, and is due here tn-morrow. After taking in bunker supplies she proceeds to Auckland, wheve the vessel will be docked prior to taking the loading berth. DARTFORD, FROM NEWCASTLE. After a smart passage from Newcastle the Union Company's ship Dartford dropped anchor in the'stream at 7.40 p.m. yesterday. The latter stage of tho journey was made with the assistance of the company's tug Terawliiti, which went outside f he Heads to bring' the vessel to port. The Dartford has on board a cargo of coal for discharge- hero, and afterwards will'.be fitted out to trade as a training ship, under the auspices of the Union Company in tho.intercolonial service. FOR WEST COAST UNITED KINGDOM. At the present time two vessels of the Fed-eral-Houlder-Shiro line are in New Zealand waters, and the-local ajents'intimato that one sails for Avorimouth this month, and tho other for the same destination next month. The Oswestry Grange will be-the.first to take the loading berth, and after calling at Port Chalniers aiid the. Bluff for freight the . vessel leaves the' latter port for Wellington direct. She arrives here on October 24, and is timed to leave for the West of England on October 30._ The Rippingham Grange will load at various ports, artd sails finally from Wellington on November 25, five days later than previously fixed. • WANGANUI SHIPPING. What constituted- an event in local shipping circles this week, says'the "Wangaimi Chronicle" ofvOctober 3, when the Putiki unloaded, the largest case ever landed in Wanganui. The case, which measured 14ft. by 12ft,, contained a-single sheet of plateglass, consigned to Messrs. R. and E. Tingcy. The glass, which was supplied by Messrs. Pilkington Bros., of Lancashire, is to .form one of the windows of Messrs. Jas. Thain and Company's handsome new premise. It was safely landed in 'llessrs. Tingey's warehouse, and will doubtless be- securely fixed in its permanent.resting place in the.near,future. To-night 1 the Torgauten is expected to leave Onehunga with a cargo of timber for Welliiigton. Yesterday at 10 a.m. the Arahura arrived in Greymouth from Wellington, via ports, and she was timed to sail on tho return journey at ten o'clock last night. Passengers arriving to-morrow from Sydney by the Moeraki number 48 in the saloon and 113 in the steerage. . Of r hese 34 saloon and 80 steerage have booked for Wellington. It is expected that the Union Company s steamers Poherua and-Pukaki will leave Wellington to-day for Greymouth, and that the Kamona will be dispatched for Westport. , A cabled message received by/the local agents reports that the Maoriland Shipping Company's s.s. Ennerdale arrived at .Newcastle on Saturday morning from Sydney. The vessel will he loaded with coal, and ;hen bails for Auckland, j It is expected that the UniGn Company's steamer Rosamond will, leave Greymouth tonight for Wellington and Now Plymouth. The Kaiapoi is to leave Westport today for AYellington, and' the Kaituna was to leave Westport last night for Lyttelton. ...Some difficulty has been experienced in *epair'ing the damage to the Mana sustained wliileaground at Patea. Tho Mana is now oil the Patent Slip. The repairs ha>'e riot been exten sive, but some plates situated under the en gine, had to be mended. The steamer comes ol the slip early this morning, and sails for Patea iater ■in the day.
