FIVE-MILE TEAMS' RACE. / Eight teams, comprising in all 41 run* ners, took part in a five-mile teams', raca from the Te Aro Baths to the Patent Slip and back on Saturday afternoon. Mulcahy, the winner, took the lead at an early stage, Wilton occupying second placo. In the run home, Mulcahy maintained a. hot pace, reaching the post first in 23min. 45scc. From the time registered, it is evident that, the distance is short, as the world's amat-eur record for the distance is 24min. 33 2-ssec., in which time Slirubb covered the distance at Stamford Bridge in 15)04. Wilton, who came second, occupied 24min. 19sec., whilst Sharpe, the Australasian amateur long distance champion, who was not in the.best of .fettle, obtained third place in 25min. 7see.; ■ A Harrier team secured first award with 25 points, tho four placed men being—Press 4, Bennett S, Film G, and Williams 8.-, The Catholic Young Men's Club teams were the runners-up with 42 points, made up as follow :—Mulcahy 1, Murray 9, Fitzgerald 13, and M'Grath 19. Third place was gained b,v the Amateurs' team, with a score of. 44 points—Wiltou' 2, Sharpe 3, Lambert ,16, and Thompson 23.
