MASTERTON.
The Masterton sections of the Masterton Mounted Rifles intend to take the field on Saturday/next against the Te Nui sections, at Blairlogie, which is sixteen miles equidistant between the two centres. Tho encouhtor will probably be known in local history as "Tho Battle of Blairlogie." Tho Masterton Borough Council has offered tho position of borough valuer and returning officer to Mr. Richard Brown, the late town clerk. . . The jVVairarapa volunteers, who have been attending tho school of instruction schools here during the' past week, will complete their studies this'evening. A large amount of time has been spent in lessons in manoeuvring out of doors. The pupils were addressed during the school of instruction by Colonel Bauchop, who spoke on the duties of citizenship. Tho 'President's Challenge Trophy of the Masterton Golf Club has been won for the year by Mr. C. Perry, with 3J points. W. H. Booth and J. Gray tied for second place, with three points each.
