DOMETT-SEDDON RAILWAY.
A Cliristchurck resident, who recently re-turned-from an overland trip to Blenheim, is enthusiastic as to tho benefits that will result from tho construction of the railway from Domett to Seddon and the linking up of Ckristclrarch and the important northern districts of tho island. Flaxbourno and Seddon, ho told a reported, were probably the most prosperous of tho Government settlements. Seddon, which ho had la.st soon as a tussock-covcred station, was a flourishing township, and the contro of somo of the finest barley country in Australasia. Flaxbourno was as yet practically isolated; so was Kaikoura as far as convenient ivoans of transit was concerned: but Seddon was better off, having the railway to Blenhoim. The construction of the railway, which vm.ld do away with tho. present coach drive of ninety miles, would render easy of access somo of tho prettiest sccnery in the island. He had been told that Marlborough farmers when soiling sheep locally could only get prices at tho best 3s. per head lower tlian those ruling at Addington, so that they easily saw wherein somo of tho benefits of tho railway would lie.
