Kali Cheranmukerjee has been sentenced to nine months' rigorous imprisonment and also fined 300 rupees for' threatening the life of the Viceroy, Lord Minto. TILAK'S SENTENCE. London, October 1. It is officially denied that Viscount Morley, Secretary of State for India, suggested a reduction of the sentence passed on B. G.. Tilak (whoso sentence of six years' transportation for sedition was commuted to imprisonment). fit was tho "Pioneer" that declared that the alteration in the sentence was made at Lord Motley's instance. As has already been shown, the Under-Secretary for India had previously indicated that Lord Morley did not consider the case ..one for interference.]
