There wore many heroic rescues, in connection with the flood at Haidarabad. Tho nurses at the Victoria Zenana Hospital saved tho patients by carrying them to tho roofs, which the floods had almost covored. British officials in boats rescued many, climbing with them up trees and to the tops of the temples. The River Mussi, from a rushing torrent 60 feet deep, became a trickling stream in two days. Starving and destitute victims of the floods are looting tho grain and liquor- shops in the devastated area. Catholic priests#showed extreme heroism, and by their coolness immensely encouraged the panic-stricken natives.
