THORNDON DINGHY CLUB.

; The; annual meeting of the Thorndon Dinghy Club/was held at the Boat Harbour yesterday. evening. ~The report stated that 17 handicap races and three championship races were sailed, during last season. Messrs. Jones and Sargent's Oeo won the club championship, and Mr.- E. Bailey's Thelma won the points prize.. A cup was presented by the club to be raced-for by the boys of tho Amokiira annually. . ' Owing to the; site at Thorndon being right out of the hub of the yachting world a special general meeting was called to consider the advisability of shifting the - club's quarters' to the, Boat Harbour.' After a great deal of. discussion it was decided to lease one of the Harbour' Board's sheds in the Boat Harbour'arid make this .the club's headquarters. Shed No. 44 has-been leased to the club'for a. term- of ! twelve months at'a rental of £22 per annum.- This move, it is hoped, will result in a lot of new members taking up the sport. Already the: wisdom of shifting the club's quarters is apparent, several new members and also dinghy owners having joined; The, club still holds, one debenture in the Thorndon Yacht Club's shed, and as all the revenue" has left,' that shed, the ■ committee understand that the Thorndon Club is negotiating the sale or lease of the shed. Up to the present nothing has been decided. Notwithstanding the heavy expenditure during the season the finances of the club are in a _ satisfactory condition, the cash balance being £5, whilst the assets are valued at £30,; with no liabilities. The prospects for the ensuing season are considered fairlybright, ten boats'being already in tho club, whilst t'wo more will probably join before the season opens.. Tliero seem? to be a good deal more enthusiasm: amongst members than there, was at the end of last season, and given fine weather some good racing should be witnessod. 1 Officers were elected for tho ensuing season.
