ANNUAL MEETING OF ' THE''WELLING- ... ... TON ASSOCIATION. ALTERATIONS TO RULES.. Tho annual meeting of tho Wellington Cricket Association was held in the Chamber of Commerce last evening. The president (Mr. 11. D. Bell) occupied tlio chair. In moving ' its adoption, Mr. Bell stated that the ' report showed the ■ usual, regret that the overdraft had not been decreased;' But in one case £50 of the assets had materialised Uie ■ referred to tho ilty •£1 debentures in tho Athletic Park Company). After expressing his regret, at tlio death of Mr.' C. Wv Ben bow, the chairman moved- tho adoption, of tho report. The motion was seconded. Mr. U Richardson, who emphasised tho need ot keeping a stricter eye on subscriptions. Ho noted that'there was' £80 on the balance--sheet representing outstanding subscriptions. The report- was adopted. r Applications • from the Wanvotu and YiM.C. A. 'Cliihs to enter teams in the senior competition were received. - It was moved that tho applications be referred to tho incoming committee. An amendment was moved by Mr. Cobcroft that the applications be dealt with'at the meeting; so that;dele-, •gates could vote with ,tho status-.of a. senior club. .-The amendment was carried Air. Cobcroft then - moved that the- A\ aiwctu and Y M C.A. Clubs bo admitted to the senior contest, and that matters, relating to . the, | grounds'-be left to the' incoming committee. This coilrse was adopted. ■ . . . , . ■Ther St.;, Mark's Club wrote desiring-to! affiliate and enter ieams in tho third and fourth-class contests. The Petone s a P tlst Glub also applied for affiliation. ' T ' ~ j The-moHon moved by Mr. Luckie was made a. recommendation from the .Wellington As* sociation to tho New Zealand Association, and as' such was approved of unanimously. Mr. T. H. "Wilson moved—"That the senior, junior and third-class championship matches be respectively controlled by a separate and distinct championship commit-tee-for each, class." He. referred to the accumulation of\work to be dealt with by the one committee, and stated that better results would be obtained from separate com- ' mittees; ■' On the. suggestion of the chairman, Mr: AYilson, altered his motion to ''committees for each class" so as-to take in the fourth-class-championship matches. Mr. Jacobs moved as an'amendment that 'One committee control third and fourth-class I matches and separate committees the senior and junior matches. Mr. T. Brodio seconded. I This was'carried.,.. \

Moffatt seconded; The motion was altered to read tho '.-'championship committee .of each class." , Mr. Luckie thought there, would be great dissatisfaction at such a rule, as it would knock some of tho teams out of any chance of gaining the cup, and that .weaker teams would probably .not have a chance of. meeting the stronger teams towards tho end pf. tho season.; .'»/ . Mr. Blacldcck endorsed Mr. Luckie's view. . ■ . Mr. Topp said that the carrying of such a motion would'kill'junior and third-class cricket, in . three months., \ffle moved -the motion should be adjourned);until, the next annual meeting. , His amendment was lost; and Mr. Wiren's motion was carried. by 17 votes to; 13. ... Mr. Jacobs moved on behalf of Mr. B. L. Salmon:—"lri championship ruto 3 to substitute the" words ' 'three points' instead of ''!four points'; and after tho words. ' in • all .competitions,' to add the words 'below tho senior.'" Mr. Jacobs asked leave to add another motion making provision for the management committee to be given power, to allow three days for senior matches. Mr. Luckie opposed tho latter part of the. resolution 'on account of . the impossibility of getting the. first round off, as 27 Saturdays would bo needed, and that on many of those Saturdays some forty or fifty, players would bo looking on for an hour or two on tho third Saturday. : Mr. Richardson, supporting Mr. Luckie, referred to the manner in which the' innovation would bo received by the public who betrayed a greater interest in cricket last year than" over before. ' Messrs. Topp .and Brice also opposed tho three-day suggestion. > Tho add(>.l resolution (providing for three day senior matches) was lost. The alteration of points motion was carried. ' A vote of .thanks to the . chairman concluded tho meeting TEMPLARS' CLUB. ; The annual meeting of the Templars' Cricket Club was held last evening, Mr. XV: A. Allan presiding. The report stated that the practice trophy liad been won by Bro! Roid. Other trophies won were—Third-class batting, Bro. Doorley; bowling, Bro. Girling highest score, Bro. Doorley; fielding, Bro. Wright; fourth-class —batting, Bro. Parris; bowling, Bro. Blenkinsop; most improved player, Bro. Dryden; practice, Bro. Reid.
