SELF-DENIAL WEEK.
(BT TKf.EGIiAFH. — SPECIAt. CORRESPONDENT.) Dunedin,' September 29. Staff-Captain Dickson, talking of self-denial wock, says that for many years. Wellington has raised the highest amount of any of the New Zealand towns, Christchurch and Dunedin usually following in that order; but last year for the first time Christchurch led tho way with £676, Wellington raising £655, and Dunedin £580. Mr. Dickson expects Wellington to regain the lead again this year, as Staff-Captain Lorrie (who directed the movement in Dunedin last year) is working hard in Wellington in support of, tho movement. The local staff-captain is hopeful of giving both Wellington and Christchurch a closer go for the lead this time, as indications in Dunedin are very promising this year. Mr. Dickson says that the most liberal givers to tho army in New Zealand aro t\ bo found in Dunedin. He has been stationed all over Victoria and the Dominion at various times, and he has never seen such large individual donations to the fund as have been mado in Dunedin.
