A Now Year Party. Saturday was tho Jewish New Year, and in honour of the day Mrs. F. Cohen held a large and very enjoyable "At Home" at her house in Upper Willis Street, when about a hund:ed guests were present. The floral decorations were :very beautiful. In' the dining-room, where afternoon tea was served, spring flowers had been used in great abundance, and the tablo was adorned with a number of tall vases .filled with jonquils and narcissi, while the mantelshelf was covered with the beautiful blooms. In the drawingroom were camellias of every shade of pink, tho centre, of all.being, a large, epergne filled with coral pink camellias and sprays of lycopodium. Duiing tho afternoon several recitations were giv-ni by Mrs. Williams and Mrs. Sutcliffe. Mrs. Cohen, received in a handsome dress! of biack brocade, with yoke of cream lace edged with embroidery in pale shades of pink, rind bluo. Miss Cohen wore a'pretty frock of pink faced cloth. Miss Gladys Cohen, who was in white muslin, with Miss Williams and Miss, Katie Cohen, helped to dispense the tea. Among many others present were: —Mr. and Mrs. Hislop, Mrs. Hislop wearing a black frock and black and White toque; Sirs. A. _ Levy, in mauve and white striped silk, with'large picture hat in shades of mauve; Mrs. H. Levy, blue silk, with handsome lace' trimming; Mrs'. Kinneberg, white chiffon taffetas blouse, with black taftotas skirt, and black picture hat; Mrs, Jaeksou, white serge ■ and big white hat; Mrs. J P. Luke, in black; Miss Cable, blue tailor-made, and black hat ; .Mrsi Hugo, black costume and toque; Miss Hugo, mauve costume; Miss Drew, vieux .rose' frock-and pretty black hat with frill of | lace beneath the brim. .
A very pleasant danco was given at-thc Wellington• Hall,' Boulcott Street,' on Satur-day-night by a party of young girls, -, the members of-;the -committee being- the -Misses J'itzinaurice, Baskiville, -Cowley, Graves, and Wightcn. Mesdames W. H. Ballinger, G. Richards, A. Richards, and Graves acted as chaperons. Miss Fitzmaurice-was in cham-pagne-coloured silk muslin, with brown trimmings; Miss Baskiville,, white muslin with black sash and ribbons; Miss Bowley, heliotrope silk; Miss Graves, white muslin, with touches of pale blue; Miss Jessio Wighton, red silk; Miss Jensen, in eau-de-nil chiffon taffetas'; Miss H.. Morgan, pale pink, silk'; Miss D. Morgan, white _ silk muslin, with touches of silver; and Miss Malcolm,, white muslin..' - Mrs. F. Y. Lethbridge, wife of Mr. Lethbridge, M.P;, is staying in Wellington and Mrs. Hardy, wife of the member, for Selwyn, is' also in town. i Mrs. Izett. of Wanganui, who has some pictures in tne annual exhibition, is staying in town', and is the guest of Mrs. Izard.
