At to-day's meeting 9f tho North Canterbury' Provincial Executive of tlio New : Zealand Farmers' Union Mr. G. W. Leadley proposed tho follbwihg resolution, which was parried: — " That in view ; of tho trend of ■present-day -politics curtailing tho liberties of the people and, hampering private enterprise, this .executive is .of opinion that tho .time has arrived when, rising superior to all 1 considerations; of party' and every other issue, tho producers of the Do,'minion should, combine to support men who ' will make- the interest's of the country a first consideration, and that, thereforo, wo recom!mend our friends to support only such candidates- as may subscribe to the Farmers' Union platform; -also that chairmen of branches' bo urged to represent to their members the'imperative necessity for rousing ithemselves to take an act interest in the forthcoming political contest." ■
. Mr. J. P. Luke, who is standing for the Suburbs seat, will address tho electors in 'the Parish Hall, Johnsonvillo, to-morrow Evening, at 8 o'clock, and at O'Doiincll's Hall, Kilbirhio, on Monday, at 8 p.m.
