Entries havo beeii received from/Dannevirkc,-Palmer3ton North, Wellington, 'ICketahuna, and. adjacent Wairarapa clubs, making nearly-70: in all. The local committee havo been • working hard in putting the range in first-class condition,. " " ' • " At .a meeting of the Workmen's Friend Building Society, on Tuesday evening, tho sum of £300 was. appropriated by sale. Mr. F. T. Harding was the highest tenderer at £90. ... His Honour District Judgo Haselden forwarded judgment on Tuesday in tho case of tho Deputy-Official Assignee v. J. B. Nicol, heard at tho last sitting of-tho District Court in Masterton. This was-a motion by the assignee calling, upon J. B. Nicol to show cause'wily ho should hot pay to the assigneo in the bankrupt estato of-F. B. 'M'Cay tile sum of £100 paid to. him by tho bankrupt on July 31, 1908, on the ground that such payment was a fraudulent preference.
