It is authoritatively stated that the British Government is confident that tho Transvaal is doing its best to meet in a fair, considerate manner, tho situation arising out of tho, voluntary registration of Asiatics. A further appeal from Bombay to tho British Government, "to save tlie Indians from the outrageous tyranny of the Transvaal," was lately made through Lord Amptliill, formerly acting-Viceroy of India.
