POST AND TELEGRAPH OFFICERS ASSOCIATION.

VISITING DELEGATES ENTERTAINED. The delegates attending the conference in connection with the New Zealand Post and Telegraph Officers' Association wero entertained by raembors of the Wellington Branch last night. Tho function, which took the form of a smoke Concert, was held in the Oddfellows' Hall. Mr.i J. Alexander, "(president) occupied the chair, and about 100 ,were present, including Mr. D. Robertson, secretary of the Post and Telegraph Department; Mr. J. K. Logan, superintendent of electric lines; and Mr. It. J. Collins, representing Mr. Waldegrave, Under-Secretary for Justice aud chairman of tho Post and Telegraph Appeal Board. Owing to a severe cold tho Right Hon. tho Premier (Sir- Joseph ,Ward) was unable to attend. ]■ During tho evening,' a number of toasts were enthusiastically honoured. Several of - tho spoakors referred to the valuable results which accrued as a result of holding conferences of delegates, also to tho good, work which had boon achieved by tho various' branches during the past yoar. Following is a list of tho toasts:—"Tho King," "The Association," proposed by Mr. J! W; Salmon and responded to by tho chairman; "Tho ' Postmaster-General," given by Mr. H. Higgins; "The Department," proposed by Mr. J. C. Redmond, and replied to D. Robertson; "Tho Appeal Board," given by Mr. W. M'Nicklo (of Bulls), and acknowledged by Sir. J. IC. Logan; "Tho Delegates," proposed by Mr. H. D. Edwards; also "The Ladies" and "The Press." Musical items were contributed as follows: —Quartette, Messrs. Hill, Carr, Hamilton, and Clarkson; duet, Messrs. Carr and Clarkson, and Messrs. Hill and Clarkson; songs, Messrs. A. S. Bush, P. Corbett, J. Carr, P. P. Temple, J. T. Eccloton, L. Hill, R. O'Connor, C. K. N. Clarkson;.recitation, Mr. Fraser Thompson. The accompaniments were played by Mr. A. S.'Hilliker. ' GOLF. i 4 . LADIES' TOUR'NAMENT. (DT TELKGIurn—I'RESS ASSOCIATION.)
