The Federal Prime Minister, Mr. Deakin, replying to a question in the House, said that as soon as the official text of the High Court's, decision was received, Ministers would consider the question of legislating in the' direction of allowing the union label to be legally used. union label, which, like'the New Pro- . tection, was declared by the High Court to , ibe unconstitutional, was used to denote that the-article bearing the label was made by union labour. The High Court held that a union label is not a trade mark within the meaning of the. law; also, that the portion of the Trade Marks Act involved in this connection is unconstitutional, as'it is an attempt to regulate the internal trade of tho State, which the Federal Parliament has no power to do.
