THE ARRANGEMENTS,

This will' .enable a better view of tho ring to be obtained from the lawn/ A neat'metalled road has been formed from tho secretary's office to the entrance gate of the stand, and around the industrial sheds. Other improvements previously reported • include the conversion of the old secretarial office into a carctakor's residence. A bath has been- supplied for -the uso of exhibitors of _ stock. The. lady and gentlemen riders _ this 'year aro to receive over £200 in prizes. The competitions for lady riders' are; comprised of separate classes for side saddle arid divided skirt. • On the first day there will be a contest for £13 among gentlemen -riders, £35. on tho second day, and £50 (and challenge cup) on tho third day. . The breed classes' comprise sections for thoroughbreds, carriage, hack, pony, polo pony, saddle, harness, and : draught horses, and prizes to the amount of £323 are allotted.'

The championship butter fat competition for dairy, cows gives promise of being wellfilled, as the prize money, £45, is considered liberal. The cows will be taken charge of by the • association on Monday, October r 26, and the, tests-carried out as in former years. I A scholarship of £20 a year, tenable at the Canterbury-Agricultural College for two, years, from' January next, is offered for competition' among sons and brothers of members of the association. The. secretary, Mr. JaC.' Lane, states'that there-is every promiso of support, as iriquiries are forthcoming from, farmers all over the Dominion.
