A. B. Postle, the Australian professional runner, won the Invitation Hundred Yards Handicap at Newcastle, from scratch in three yards outside evens. 1
Acoording to "Miller's Sporting Punphlet, the 100 yds. record is 9 3-ssec., by A. P. Dultey (1002) and D. Kelly (1906), both in America. Postle .holds the world's record for. :50yds., 5 l-ssec. Last month, .at Salford, England, he was defeated in a quarter of a. mile onampionship race by B. R. Day, of Dublin, who won br Byds in 49 l-sseo. The, race, was for .£2OO a-side, and a purse of .£IOO given by. Mr. "Rufe" Naylor. Over the hundred Postle has been credited with lOsec. (grass, in Melbourne, November, 1906), and Day has been credited with 9 i-ssec., in England. /
