Mr. Marshall officiated. Several Sisters of .the Home, of Compassion at Island Bay will be professed as nuns to-morrow.• H,is Grace Archbishop Redwood will preside at the ceremony.' The Rev. Father, O'Conncll is preaching at the preliminary retreat. Our Wairarapa correspondent states that Mrs. Morrison, matron of the 'Masterton District Hospital,- intends to resign her present position/at the end of December next. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Hosking and family, of Masterton, aro to leave Wellington on Friday next ; for Sydney, en route to their new home on the Darling, Downs. A popular wedding took .place at R-ongot-ea yesterday, afternoon (writes our Feilding correspondent), when Mr. Wm G. Woods, only son of Mr. George Woods, of, Feilding (one time of Gore),' was married to Miss. Mabel Dear, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Dear, of llongotea. Tho R-ev. Mr. Carlisle;-of the Primitive Methodist Church, performed the ceremony, which took place at the residence of the ■ bride's parents ; iu the presence of a large company of relatives and friends. It was >on : September 17, 1893, that tho 'Act was passed enfranchising women, and arrangements are being made to have a large representative public meeting in the Concert Chamber of the Town Hall, to-morrow evening, September 17, to commemorate the granting 'of : the- franchise to women. K.': Wardrop and T. Nathan. Tho chaperons were Mesdaroes D. J. Nathan, Dean, Seafcon, Kirk, and llanldne-Brown. There were a number of quite young people there, and it was a vety enjoyable dance. Among the guests were Misses Kirk, Focke, Belle Watson,, Doris Wilberforce, Etuart (2), - Dorset (2), Warburton, MacLonnan (2). Lambert (2), and Litchfield, and Messrs. Dean, Butt, Whitehorn, Hursthouse, Grace, Nathan,. Bothamley, Wardrop, Butler, Williams; Beamish", Bridge.®, and Newbold.

Mr. and Mrs. Fred. Nathan had an annoying little experience at - tho beginning of their honeymoon. As the motor car, in which they intended to make the journey, .turned out of the' gate too sharply, it struck tho gatepost and the axle was broken. Fortunately, a friend near-by was ablo to offer promptly the use of his. motor car, and so a fresh, and more successful, start was made without much delay. 1
