Tho maximum depth of water will bo 50 feet— a pressure at tho baso of tho dam of 211bs. to 'the square inch. 'J. ho dam itself will not bo curved, at tho new reservoir at Karori, but will run perfectly stright, for a length of 540 feet. Tho dam at Solomon's Nob will bo used' as a storage roservoir only, although tho necessary connections will bo provided both ' for supplies ,for tho_ lower dam (the prosent reservoir) or the city mains direct. The surface level of tho now reservoir will bo, from tho aoa-lovol, 470 foot, which should give a very good press"**.
