MAKARA COUNTY COUNCIL.
The Makara. County Council met on Saturday, when the following members were present: —Councillors Hawkins (ill tho chair), J. H. Iloggarty, S.- Bryant, F. T. Moore, J. H. Eastwood, and G. Monk. It was decided to refer the matter of prosecuting owners of land who refused to clear their frontages of gorse to the council's solicitors. Complaints were received from owners of land at Porirua regarding buildings encroaching on the road. , It was decided to give notice to the owners of tho' buildings in question that they must be shifted back within six months. Considerable discussion took place regarding the validity of a title at Porirua. The land in question was a Crown grant for "100 ft. from high-water mark." It was pointed out that if the- title was not now valid it would soon be so, as the occupier had been in undisturbed possession for almost 60 years.' It was resolved that a survey. be m.ade of the foreshore defining the boundaries and showing the encroachments thereon. Accounts amounting to £195 2s. 4d. were passed for payment.
