ELECTROCUTED.

TWO MEN KILLED. (BY IEIEGBAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT.) Perth, Septembor 12. Two men, named M'Crae and Snell, were electrocuted in the Horseshoe Mine, Kalgoorlie. They were working a crane, when it came in contact with a live trolly wire, and 550 volts passed through their bodies. People sometimes survive after receiving much higher voltages than 550. A most exceptional case was reported in July, 1907, in New York, where Raffaelo Dessotoljno, aged 37, while working in the tunnel on the New York Central Railwaj', touched with his pick the third rail. According to newspaper reports, "a blinding flash followed, and the pick was' fused to a ball of steel. Eaffaelo received a shock of L'2oo volts, which is more than the' force by which murderers are exeputed.at Sing Sing, and he was knocked senseless. A doctor was sent for, but before he had arrived Raffaelo had recovered, and, having obtained another pick, had resumed wprk." In July, 1907, in connection with the electrocution of a criminal named Harry White in the State prison at Columbus, Ohio, it was reported that "the first application of a current of 1150 volts failed to kill White, and tho physicians, on examining him, found that his heart- was still beating regularly. Another shock was administered without further effect." Finally, death was caused by a much severer pliock that literally roasted the flesh!
