HOROWHENUA CHAMPIONSHIPS. The somi-finals and finals of tho Horowhonua Boxing Association's contests More fought on Thursday night, before a good audience. The results were as follow ' Finals—Devitt (Wellington) beat .Kronast (Wellington). Kronast won the special for tho most scientific boxer other than the winner. Kronast put up -a plucky fight, but was outclassed by Devitt, and very nearly ii-ent out in tbo last round. Bantams.. Semi-finals. —Kerr (Wellington) met Kutner (Wellington). The' latter 'won on a foul. Shields (Palmerstou) met Watkins (Palmerston), and after a decidedly fino exhibition Shields was declared tbo winnter. Final. —Shields v . Kutner. This was a splendid exhibition, and when Dr. Mac Lean declared Shields the winner ho stated that ho had just witnessed ideal boxing. Watkins was awarded tho special. Light-weight. Final.—Chambers (Levin) defeated ■ Domney, who won tho special. Knocks withdrew from this contest, as ho had to leaivo the district "on business. - Middle-weight. . Filial.—Morton boat Prico after a very hard fight. Prico,'whoso guard was rather weak, took a tremendous amount of punishment, and fought with pluck. Alf. Cook (Otalei) won the special. After tho contests Major Burlinson, a viccprosidont; spoko in culogistic terms of the good work , done by tho secretary and his committee, and thought that tho association was fortunate in having tbo services ! of Dr. Napier ■ Mac Lean • as referee, and. of Mr. Laurenson as timekeeper. Dr. Mac Lean said that the tourney, had been a good one,' ntid bo had derived much pleasure from his duties iii, connection jrith it.
