"' ■ : MONTHLY MEETING.. ; The monthly meeting of the Eastbourne: Borough Council .was held yesterday, there being present—The Mayor/(Mr. :E; G[.7Bolton), and Councillors Robertson; Bannatyne, Howden, Dr. Mackenzie, and Danks v . The statement of; finances showed "that .v.' there was a debit balance of £G67 : 155. 4d..in . tho District. Fund Account and a; credit bal-_ ■ ance of £1017 7s. in the Loan Account. The ,- - Government subsidy/ amounted: to £50. ; .It • was reported that £124—extending over a. period of two years—was : outstanding on.the . general rates, £28 on the sand-drift rate, and £43 on tho sanitation rate. It was decided to take-steps to call' in the arrears. After, discussion it was N dccided ?to determine the sanitation contract, and call for, 'tenders.-for the service. : •', "'-. ■ Referring ,to . the. fact that tho council had, . been constituted .a domain board for the dis- • trict, the Mayor: remarked - that. it .would be desirable to ..institute reforesting ' operations, -• and, at convenient periods, to lay out q.er-.. \ tain portions of the domain area as-parks./. - A long discussion took.-place on the ques'-r tion of the borough's water supply.
