[from ouk own correspondent.] It mil, bo remembered (says yesterday's "Star") that the AVellington Land Board approved of a transfer of tho section held in the Aorangi Settlement by Mr, Tantrum to Mr. Pregan, but objection having been made to this as being an aggregation of Government leaseholds, tho Minister for Lands (Hon. It. M'Nab) paid a special visit to the land to seo whetper ho would bo justified in endorsing the decision of the Land Board. Wo now learn that- as the result of his investigations the Minister for Lands has decided Hot to approve of the transfer. At tho meeting of the Mnnawatu County Council yesterday some discussion took placo in reference to a letter from tho Levin Borough Council asking for the council's cooperation in reference to tho movement for the construction of the Gveatford-Levin railway. Councillors M'Kenzie and Dall gave tho project their hearty support. The council decided' to appoint"" this" chairman and Councillor M'Kenzie as delegates to join tho deputation that is to wait on tho Minister in regard to tho looplino. Mr. W. Fqssey, director of the Technical School Committee, laid beforo the committee a scheme for holding a series of lectures at tile Technical School on subjects such as milk, agriculture, fruit-growing, bee culturo, photography, etc. Tho committeo at onco saw tho valuo of the suggestion, and in tho discussion' which followeiTit was slated that lecturers could bo obtained from tho Government Departments, who would bo pleased to assist in this y.-ay. It was resolved to approvo of tho idea, and arrangements wero left in tho hands of the chairman and directors.
