ONSLOW BOROUGH COUNCIL.
,# ; . Tho monthly meeting of. the Onslow Borough Council was hold last evening, there being present:—The Mayor (Mr. J. G. Harkness), and Councillors Plimmer, Aplin, Lynneherg, and -Watson. " Accounts amounting to £287 Bs. 4d. were passed for payment. _ \ Tho Mayor moved the adoption of the following recommendation of the' Financo Committee: —"That Messrs. Bould, Riddick, Waters, Clapham, Aplin, and Hobbs be informed that in reference to the purchase of a portion of their property as a catchment area for tho Borough of Onslow, tho council has had four separate valuations made—including ono by tho Government—of the'- respective areas, and has decided to offer tho highest valuation, such offer to remain open until September 26, after which tho council tfill take the land under tho Public Works Act." Tho motion was carried. Councillor Aplin contended that details of tho valuations should be supplied to councillors. Tho Mayor pointed out that to make these .public would be detrimental to tho interests of tho borough as a whole. ■ • Tho recommendation of the borough engineer—that to get over the delay in obtaining the loan money for tho Kaiwarra drainago scheme, tho expenditure for tho saino be met out of general revenue, and tho work be proceeded with at once —was adopted. It was decided to grant Mr. It. Hannah's request for tho erection of a lamp at ■ the corner of Hannah's Avenue, and to hold over the construction of the footpaths asked for by him until consideration of next year's estimates. 1
