ARBITRATION COURT.

oYESTERDAY'S PROCEEDINGS. The Arbitration Court hold a short sitting yesterday. There were present: Mr. ■ Justice Sim (chairman), Messrs. Si Brown (employers' representative), and J. *A. M'Cul- • lough (workers' representative). . ' BOOKBINDERS' DISPUTE. It was reported that the following agreement had been arrived at in tho dispute between the Bookbinders' Union and the city employers:—Hours of labour, minimum wage, and overtime to remain as at present; underrate workers' wage to remain as at present, except that application should bo made to the _ inspector of awards instead of to tho chairman of the Conciliation Board. With regard to apprentices, the Court's usual nonindenture clause, with other provisions as at present, had been agreed to. 1 Pre'ferenco clauso and control of establishment to remain as at prosent. The following to be considered as journeymen's and apprentices' work: — Bookbinding.—The forwarding of lettorpress and stationery books, marbling, gilding, blocking, finishing, case-making, pocketbook and wallot work, making joints and tho mounting, sizing, and varnishing of maps or plates, on boards of calico. The is not to include exercise-books and the like,' or quarter-bound wire or thread-stitclied flush work, with or without turned-in sides or wrappered work. Cutting.—All work in connection with bookbinding as defined above. ■ Paper-ruling.—All ' paper-ruling, except feeding and Hying, provided that notwithstanding anything contained in, the apprentice clause, any employer or firm having two or moro paper-riding machines in tho establishment and employing a journeyman paperruler shall have tho right to employ ono extra apprentice who may bb employed at bookbinding for. the purpose of filling in time. Mr. W. Pryor,'for the employers, said, it was hoped that an agreement would also bo arrived at ■in respect of the country workers. Tho agreement was approved by the Court. DRIVERS' AWARD. An application was made to extend the application of tho Wellington Drivers' Award. Mr. Pryor said thero was no objection to adding tho new parties, who were within the twonty-milo radius covered by tho award, i An order was mado extending application. ; . BAKERS' DRIVERS. . An agreement between the' master _ bakers and ' their drivers was submitted, with' tho request that it bo converted into an award. Tho chief featuro of the agreement is an increase of 3s. a week in wages. It was stated that the parties had beon observing tho agreement for some time. * Tho agreement was made an award. Tho Court then adjourned till 10.30 a.m. to-day.
