EIGHTY-FIVE SAILORS MISSING. (BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT.) Melbourne, September 7. When the United States Fleet left for Albany yesterday, 85 of tho sailors were missing. The battleship Kansas remains behind pending an inquiry into the collision between the United States collier Ajax and the pleasure steamer Leura. REGEPTION AT ALBANY. Melbourne will not be the last Australian port to entertain the American Fleet prior to its ' departure for the Eastern Pacific and Japan, as arrangements have been made for a stay'at Albany, West Australia, to winch port all the colliers of the fleet are under charter. Admiral Sperry has notified, with regard to Albany, that, owing to pressure of fleet business, entertainments involving absence from the ship for more tlian one day cannot bo allowed, but it is his intention to allow the men leave during the daytipie in such numbers as may bo suitable to the wishes of tho authorities. The West Australian recoptiou committee have arranged a rough programme for tfyj entertainment of officers and men at Albany on Knturdav September 12, after the arrival of the fleet in St. George's Sound. Official calls will bo made on ..Admiral Sperry. On Monday Admiral Sperry will land, and will be presented with an.address of welcome, and entertained with other officers at luncheon. During the remainder of the stay a sports meeting will bo held, and officers and men otherwise entertained.' ...
