At a meeting of district riflemen held in Masterton last evening it was decidcd to hold tho North Wairarapa Handicap Riflo meeting (open to all-cornel's) on Fairviow range oil Thursday, September 24. Tho programme drawn up is tho saino as that propared for tho meeting last year, which liad to be abandoned owing to tho Opaki rifle 'range being condemned. It comprises tho Gladstone Match, seven shots at 200 yards:, Whakataki Tenlii match, soven shots at 600 yards; Tewharau match, seven shots at 600 yards; Opaki match, seven shots at 700 yards; handicap 'grand aggregate match, highest aggregate in preceding four matches; championship aggregate, highest aggregate off tho ride in all matches; all-comers' handicap sweepstake and handicap teams match, open to teams of five men from any club or corps. Entries will closo on September 21, ancf handicaps will be declared nt seven o'clock on tue night - previous to tho meeting. In a practice match between several members of-the different corps on Saturday, Corporal'H. C. Jonos, of tho Post and Telegraph llifles, came out oil top with tho good tally of 94' out of a possible 100. "The conditions, 10 shots at 200 yards and 500 yards, aiid the winner's scoro was: 200 yards, 40; 600 yards, 49; total, Tho Empire postal match, which was postponed on' August 26 last, will eventuate on Wednesday, September 16, and is being looked forward to by tho local corps, who hope to mako a hotter stand than last year. On that occasion they finished third t<> Now South Wales and Victoria, London taking fourth .place!
