BAPTIST CONGRESS.
KAISER THANKED FOR HIS SPEECH. (BY TELEGRAPII—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COrrUIGHT.) Berlin, September 4.' The International Baptist Congress at Berlin has closed. Numerous interesting papers were read and discussed, and interesting resolutions .wero passed. One resolution thanked the Kaiser for his recant speech at Strasburg, announcing that the peace of Europe was not in danger. Mr. Lloyd-Georgo, British Chancellor of tho Exchequer and Nonconformist leader, telegraphed to the Berlin Baptist Congress urging its members to do their part in tho promotion of poace. The' above resolution no doubt represents the congress's response. The gist of the Kaiser's speech was that peace is securethanks i mainly ■to tho German arms. Tho congress was mainly directed at showing the power and possibilities of tho Baptist Church throughout Europe. The official languages used wero English and German. Among tho speakers were Dr. Clifford, Dr. Newton Marshall, Rev. A. Hess, Rev. J. W. Ewing, Professor Benander (of Stockholm), Rev. A. Ilofs (of liassel), Rev. J. T. Forbes, Eov. J. H. Rushbrooke, and Herr von Gerdtell.
