GISBORNE. HARBOUR SCHEMES: •Gisborne, September 5. The report of Mr. Leslie H. Reynolds, C.E., on the proposed outer harbour scheme has been received. After consideration of the scheme drawn up by Mr. Marchant, C.E., -and an amendment thereof proposed by Messrs. Coode, Son, and Matthews, the English engineers, Mr. Reynolds approves of the locality selected, but recommends a larger harbour capacity than the other engineers have planned, in order to allow vessels to inanoeuvro' in had weather, and to reduce the range. _ He approves of rubble formation, but increases the estimates of expense, and sets down the cost of an enlarged harbour at £570,730. ] NEWS IN BRIEF. Cambridge, September 5. A proof of tho development of dairying in Cambridge is the fact tnat the Co-operative Dairy Company has opened a new brick factory, with modem plant. Speeches were made by Messrs. Cuddio (Dairy Commissioner) and Shirley, and the officers of tho company. The output is now 400 tons.
