Wo may live to see a revival in our own days (says an Australian paper) of tho famous French Salons of the past, when wits and beauties met to tall;, and brilliant conversation the chief raison d'etre of tho entertainment. In Paris during tho just-closed season, literary afternoons wero much in favour. The point about these parties was tho reciting or original verses by tho authoresses or by friends. Madame Hclcne Yacnro.seo, tho poetess awl friend of Carmen Sylva. the Duchess do la ItochoGuyon, .Umo. Cioyau (a daughter of tho former President, Felix Faure) are among the literary hostesses of Paris f.t present.
