MANAWATU GOLF TOURNAMENT. (DI TEtECKATH—I'EESS ASSOCIATION.) Palmerston North, September 4. The Manawatu golf tournament finished today, when there was a keen finish for the championship between K. Duncan (Wellington) and A. Barraud (Palmerston), who has been putting, up records here for some time past. Neither did record breaking, as. the, wind affected them, their cards being' SG and 85 respectively, but tho fight was a good one nevertheless. Barraud jumped a,way with a lead of 3 up at the fourth hole, when Duncan came up ana at the sixteenth was level... The next two holes were halved, and nineteen was played. Duncan tipped his drive, and in spite of a splendid recovery, the local man won the hole and the championship. The ladies championship was won by Mrs. Bevan '(Otaki), from Miss Una Williams (Wellington). Tho ladies teams match resulted in a tie between Wanderers and Otaki at 433, Wanderers winning in the plav off. The team consisted of Miss Beatson (Hastings), Misses Simpson and Stafford. (Wellington) Miss Biddeley (Kimbolton). . ' Miss Wood, 110, 25, 85, won the Ladies' Stroke Handicap. P. M'Hardy and L. A. Abraham, 81, 8, 73, won the four ball match. There were largo entries, and the meeting was' a great success. Lady Plunket presented tho prizes at a big gathering on the course. The following is the drawing for competition (mixed foursome handicap) at Miramar to-day, at 2.30 P.m.— Mrs. Tennant and R. Cook v. Mrs. Watkins and B. Smith, Mrs. Spencer and Shand v. Miss Porter and H. Coull, Miss Cook and Sutton v. Miss Chalmers and Fussell, Miss Webb and Robieson v. Miss Wilson and Dr. Bo.vd, Miss Gavin and Watkins v. MisS Groy and Erskine. The Red Dot Professional Ball was much in evidence at the recent championship held in Sydney last week. All the Australian and New Zealand champions played with the Red Dot Professional.
