BOXING ASSOCIATION.

IMPORTANT MEETING. DISQUALIFIED FOR, LIFE. Tho committee of tho Wellington Boxing Association . mot last night, Mr. 11. W.. M'Villay presiding. Teddy West, Taihapo, asked for a match under the auspices of tho Association. Ho stated that ho had held his own with tho best light-weights in West. Australia. It was dceided to reply that no match could be mado at tho present time. . It was reported by tho secretary, in tho unavoidable absenco of the treasurer, that a profit of about £10 had accrued in connection with the recent tourney. A hearty voto of thanks was accorded tho delegates who represented tho Association at tho recent conforencc of local associations at Christchurch. Tho chairman, who proposed tho motion, stated that the views of tho committee on tho various questions proved to be those of a majority of tho associations. TREATMENT OF CHAMPIONSHIP COMPETITORS. Mr. Samson, tho manager of the team which represented the association at tho New Zealand Championships, entered a strong protest against the scant courtesy extended to tho- team at Christchurch, when the championships wero held. Thoy should have received ticket's for eight seconds, but six only were allotted, and these only after very considerable trouble and throats to withdraw the team. Then again tho seconds for the association were not allowed to properly attend to tho competitors in the ring, who in consequenco could not be sent up in tho best form at each round. Ho was not permitted to see the competitors or their opponents weighed, nor wero tho competitors allowed to see the scales. No entertainment or courtesy, official or private, such as is usual amongst amateur sports bodies, was offered, and the team as a whole were not at all appreciative of tho treatment accorded them.

In the courso of a discussion on the subject, tho chairman said that if the team had beon withdrawn, tho committee would havo backed up tho manager. It was decided to vote a bonus to the manager, who had carried out his duties very efficiently. DISPUTE WITH HAWKE'S BAY ASSOCIATION. Tho secretary of tho Hawke's Bay Association wrote again with reference to tho objection which tho committeo had taken to a member of their association. Ho said that his committeo viewed with dismay tho action of tho committee, which had chosen to justify it as "in tho interest of clean sport," but surely a mere platitude was not ill itself sufficient to justify the committeo in depriving an individual of his standing. When the committee assorted that his association had 110 right to ask for an official notification of the disqualification of any of jts members, and the cause, it. was asserting something repugnant to common-sense. It must surely appeal to tho committee that it was shameful an officer of an association should be deprived of his office upon tho mero vorbal authority of two i individuals, however worthy they might bo. The committeo llad declared tho matter closed without its ever having been open to his association, and wore asserting as a principle "that your will-is to bo our law." That principle his committeo was not inclined to accept without'protest when the Committee's will did not coincide with tho rule and wasrepugnant to fairness. \

After a - brief discussion it was decided to refer the matter to tho Now Zealand Boxing Council. /' , M'KIBBON-BUIINS MATCH. STERN MEASURES TAKEN. Tho match between M'Kibbon and Burns, clccidcd at the recent tourney, was then discussed. .It will bo remembered that after two rounds had beon fought M'Kibbon withdrew, asserting that his wrist had beon injured, and Burns was declared tho winner. A letter was received from Burns, who stated that ho was sorry M'Kibbon hadn't continued tho fight, as ho had every confidence that ho was his master. As a matter of fact, Tim Tracoy and his own trainer had advised ty'm to keep away from M'Kibbon for two rounds at least. No one was moro surprised than himself at M'Kibbon discontinuing, as ho hadn't started to fight him. Ho would liko a match with Leckio, or any welter weight. Tho secretary stated that in consequence of certain rumours which wero current immediately after . tho match the cheque due to tho loser, M'Kibbon, had not been handed over. As a matt-or of fact M'Kibbon had not applied to tho association for it. It was allegod that thoro was something radically wrong about the fight. This was the first occasion on which anything of tho kind had allegedly taken place. Dr. Napier M'Lean, tho referee, said that at the end of tho first round of tho match it dawned on him that everything was not as it should be. In tho interests of tho sport ho was nearly coming forward to announce that ho wished all bets to be declared "off." Ho thought that M'Kibbon had not fought at all. Although ho didn't examine M'Kibbon's wrist ho felt sure by the way it was allowed to bo handled afterwards that it was not injured. If M'Kibbon wero allowed to tako'part in a contest which ho was to reforce he would refuso to officiate.

A Member: M'Kibbon lias left the Dominion. Dr. Napier M'Lean, continuing, said he hoped the committee would allow him in future, if lie had cause to do so, to declare all bets in a match to bo "off." Had he been refereeing in Sydney or at Home ho would most crtainly have done so on the occasion in question. Members: You might have declared the match to bo no fight? Dr. Napier M'Lean: If I had thought of it I would have done so. In conclusion, he added that lie. did not see any blow which could have caused any injury. One of the mombors stated that a local bookmaker was reported to have lost over £150 over tho match. The Chairman said that M'Kibbon had kept out of his way since the match. There could bo no disguising the fact that bets were made on such matches, and if anything wero found to bo wrong in connection with any future match ho trusted that tho refereo would declare it to bo no fight. "The referee may rest assured," lie added, "that ho will be backed up by tho committee." Subsequently tho chairman moved that the cheque due to M'Kibbon bo cancelled, and that M'Kibbon bo disqualified for life. Tho motion, which was seconded by Mr. Coffey, was carried unanimously. It was then agreed on tho motion of Mr. Coffey that Burns and his trainer be requested to attend a. special meeting of the committeo to be.hold on Tuesday evening.
