NIREAHA CHEESE FACTORY.

ANNUAL MEETING. An annual mooting of shareholders of' tho Nireaha Co-operative Dairy Company was held on Saturday evening. In moving tho adoption of tho balance-sheet, Mr. C; Alberthsen, chairman of the company, said tho supply of milk was 274,28G1b5. in excess of that of last .season, and 29,5571b5. more cheese was made, in spite of tho drought and shortago of feed caused by the severe fires. Theso firos had made a loss to the company of £46 13s. Id. on tho manager's residence, and £16 3s. was spent on lauour and assistanco in saving the factory. With the additions mado to tho factory last season, a very much larger output. could be handled. They had during |the .season allotted 470 now shares, and. had capital now standing at £1563, of which: the sum of £1029 6s. 4d. was paid up. Applications wore callcd for tho manufacture of cheese by contract for tho coming season, and Mr. Adamson, late manager at Greytown, was tho successful applicant. . It was hoped that all suppliers would support Mr. Adamson by sending in tho milk m the best possible order. Tho usual allowance of Bd. had been paid during the season, and another Id. per lb. of butter fat was paid on June 20. It was now proposed to pay out a further 2jd., making a total of lljd. per lb. of butter-fat. Shipping charges had increased from 3;Bd. por lb. to id. per lb., making a difference in freight alone of £17S. Messrs. Alberthsen, Davidson, and Busst retired from the directorate, and only Mr. Alberthsen offered himself for re-election. Messrs. Alberthsen, V. Goss, and J. Hardymont were elected. Mr. T. B. Mason, secretary, was voted a bonus of 5 por cent, on his salary. A voto of thanks was passed to Mr. E. Chew, retiring manager. Mr. Hoist, in an address on tho company's financial position, stated that four years ago tho company had started with a liability of £1600, and to-day they had reduced that to £500, besides writing off largo sums for depreciation, buying land, and 1 extending the building and plant. A£l share was now really worth 3os.
