Reductioil' in average sizo of hanks. 2. Uniform length in hanks. 3. Production of good colour. 4. Evenness in colour in baling, so that all one colour should be found throughout cacli bale. 5. Reduction and uniformity in sizo of bales. G. Use of ; wire : fastenings for: bales and dumps to bo discontinued. •7. Disuse of tow ropes in baling fibre. 8. Flooded and badly-silted fibre not to bo exported, and any but particularly well Reconditioned should bo rejected. V 9.- No .two bales with separate millors' brands to bo:allowed in the samo dump. | 10. Graders'. certificates to be in different colours. ■>11. Separate. certificates ,to be. issued for each parcel graded, showing points allotted, and with no more space than required for one 1 -, parcel. ' ■ 12. Shipping companies to be compelled to deliver according,to millers' brands, numbers, and grade marks. AboutlTow. A manufacturer told him that 110 would use Now' Zealand tow extensively if tho quality was reliable. But in his factory alone he had 40 per cent, of waste, and considered he had been' robbed. The grading of tow would bo undertaken in New. Zealand shortly. Tho least amoimt of waste in New Zealand tow was 25 per cent.; and it ranged as high as 40 per cent.: Upholsterers had given up using New'(Zealand tow, owing to the dust it contained, and used cocoanut fibre instead. The following recommendations were made by manufacturers:—. ' 1. Bales to bo branded and numbered in the same way. as fibre.. 2. To be free from dust and rubbish. 3. Wire fastenings to be discontinued. 4. Sizo of bales to be reduced. •s;.More neatness in baling. 6. Uniformityyin size of bales.
