ACCOUNTANTS' ASSOCIATION.
i The half-yearly meeting of the New Zealand Accountants' and Auditors' Association '.was concluded yesterday morning. : The fol-, ■ lowing members were present Messrs. Hi Shaiv (president), R. Wilberfoss, J. C. Port, > and T. Forsyth (Wellington), H. Cbeesman. E. H. Labatt, and S. W. Thornton • (Christ-. church), G. M. Mac Lean (Dunedin), and J. Cunningham (Invereargill). -: The registrar (Mr. J. H. Mackic) was also in attendance. 1 ' Before proceeding to formal business it was resolved to place on record the loss sustained by the death recently of Mr. T. 0. ■ Kelsey, of New Plymouth, a member'of the . council, together with an expression of appreciation of the' services rendered to tho association by the deceased. The passing of tho New Zealand Ac- 1 countants Society's Bill was very favourably commented on, the unanimous opinion being • that the ' measure will do ■ much towards ■ raising'the status of accountants. Correspondence was read from the American Association of Public Accountants inviting ' L members of the New Zealand association to !! be present at the annual ' American-confer-ence in Atlantic City,. U.5.A.,. in' October next. Up to the time of the meeting it was not known whether a representative could : attend. The registrar announced that owing to increasing demands upon his time life fonnd it necessary to resign • his office, which lie had held since the formation of the association in 1898. Steps were taken to provide for the appointment of' a' successor.
