M. Fallieros, President of tho French Republic, and M. Clemonceau, Premier, werewalking along tho Iluo de Rivoli. Nearlyopposite the entranco to the Tuilerics Gardens M. Clemonceau raised his liafc to a little old lady wearing a dark veil, who was, walking along very slowly on tho othor side of the pavement, leaning 011 tho arm of a dame do compagnie. M. Fallieros, out of courtesy, also raised his hat. Tho lady' acknowledged tho attention with an inclination of the head. M. Fallieros and M. Clomencoau passed on. "Who is that fine old lady?" asked M.
