Tho New York " World " supports the candidature of Mr. W. J. Bryan (nominco of the Demoorats) for tlio Presidency. .The "World" describes the issue as between democracy and plutocracy. BRYAN'S TACT. Newspapers by tho last mail indicate something of a revulsion of opinion in favour of the prospects of ill". Bryan. The "Daily' Mail's" American correspondent writes, under dato July 4: —"He is vastly different from the impetuous firebrand of twelve years ago. It is a mature, deliberate, tactful Air. Bryan wliom visitors now see. Exercising perfect self-control, he is dovoting himself with admirablo skill to Smoothing away the differences among tho various sections of his party. To-day he published an editorial. praising Sir. Hearst, the millionaire proprietor of the 'New York American/ and appealing to his organisation, the Independence League, in the interests of the principles which it professes, to cast the million votes which it can probably command, not for an independent candidate, but for the man selected at the Denver Convention. Tho appeal has created a profound sensation. It proves how keenly alive Mr. Bryan—'the sage of Nebraska/ as he is freshly nicknamed—is to the perils which beset the path of the Democratic party by the breaking away of millions of its former followers into new organisations."
