Another of Benzoin's progeny that I saw. while in Christchuroh was a horse .called Ben Glitters. His dam was an Apremont. mare.i As a thi'ee-yeai'rold Ben Glitters showed himsfelf to be fast on the tracks, but he injured himself and had to be thrown out of work before he ever, raced. He is to be shifted to Palmerston this month, and will be prepared for tummer. racing. ' - S.' Reid and 11. Hatch will both be riding at the Wairarapa Hunt Club's meeting at Carterton next week. Both have engagements' in cach of the flat races. The steeplechaser, Pierre, who injured his shoulder while running in the Grand National Steeplechase, has been taken home to Auckland, and his trip to the Commonwealth has been cancelled." The present fortnight is a slack-one in the racing ■ world, but the spring meetings commence at the beginning of next month, aild the Marton, Horowhenua, Rangitikei, and Wanganui fixtures follow in quick succession. . The weights for the New Zealand Cup will be declared before the Marton meeting, and the presence of several Cup candidates at that fixture will lend additional interest to the racing.
