A NEW HYMNAL. The' United Methodist Conference met at the end'of June in Hanover Church, Sheffield,. Tho llev. Dr. Townsciid presided. Greetings *were received from tho members of tho Shcffiold Congregational Association congratulating the Conference on the new union, which the Association described as an cxamplo of wise statesmanship. and Christian lovo that would havo a far-reaching influenco upon tho religious lifo of tho world. Tho Conference decided to appoint a committee for the compilation of a new Sunday School'hymnal, which shall co-operate with' n eomnjitteo appointed for tho samo purposo by tlio AVosloyari Methodist Conference and by tho Committee of tho Wesloyau ■ Methodist Sunday School Union. On the motion of tho llev. A. Hancock it was decided that tho funds of the several missionary' societies should bo united nex* year. . • : .

Edward Boadeii, tko.ex--I'residout., •• Tho President and tho missionary ' officer* wore appointed as a deputation to Sir Robert Hart with a view to obtaining advice from him on the subjcct of mission • work in China.
It was derided that tho next. Conferencs should' bo held at to commenca 011 July 13, 1909. It was agreed that tho dato for ministers changing, their circuits 'should bo tho lsst Thursday in August in each year.
Tlio report of tho Thanksgiving Fund was presented and adopted. . Nearly £40,000 had been raised, and each circuit was requested in tr.v to raise ouo guinea per member-'
