HAND-MADE CLOTHES.
A Sydney girl, who has been visiting Paris, writes of the rage for ;hand-mado frocks. Even the little French work-girls wear beau-tifully-made frocks, that they construct tbom.selves" without the''aid'of a machine.. This " hand-made craze does not touch', cloth frocks. "The favourite colours of Paris from now to .the winter will be cinnamon,• prunella .(which is a very dull ,purple), and all blues, especially canard or duck, and old blue. Beehive hats rage_ here; 'Beehivo ' indeed! : They romind me in'sizo of the huge ants' -nests I used-.to see; in the Riforina. They (the hats—not ,tho ants' nests) aro difficult to keep 'right there.' Some are inado with a . little pad or pincushion inside the centre of the crown, and through-this tho hatpins are pushed. ■ Jewellers are working feverishly to supply the demand for fourteeninch hatpins. The ' latest is the doublo headed pin. Tho second or other end head unscrews. Charlotte Cordays or beehives— they aro all high, top-heavy-looking things with lace pleated under the brim."
