DAIRY STOCK PROSPECTS.
FEED SHORT IN WAIRARAPA. • '• With an increasing demand for dairy stock, (writes our Wairarapa correspondent)/sales are being lield over'the whole of the district. Yesterday- a Masterton stock agent , received an order straight out for a hundred head of dairy cows. There is not - too much green feed about for this class of stock, and some of the dairy farmers with no winter feed are experiencing groat difficulty in nourishing their animals.' It is noticeable that in many instances the • Bush : Districts dairy farmer does'not minister ..to •••'• the comfort..of his cows, as :does liis brother further down the district. :It is very likely '. that , the fact of the. land not being so clear " in the Bush, as it is in the South Wairarapa. ■ is responsible for, this state of affairs, but there seems to be no doubt whatever that the whole trouble'is caused by the scarcity of winter feed. When the Bush District ■ dairy farmer' has learnt to grow' his own winter feed, he will have solved the problem which is at present afflicting his breeched pocket much more than he imagines.
