HIGH RENTS AT BUDAPEST.

GOVERNMENT HOUSING PROJECT. Owing to tho exceedingly high rents in Budapest, especially in tho poorer districts, tho Hungarian Government are planning tho emotion of artisans' dwellings, at a total cost of £700,000. It is proposed to build one lot in Budapest and another in Kispest, some little distance outsido the city. The total area of the ground is nearly 25,000,000 square feet, and tho cost is £200,000. Another half-million sterling will be expended in building somo 1500 houses; providing accommodation for 6000 families, at rentals varying from £o to £6 a year. Employees on tho Stato railways and in Government factories and institutions will bo given the first choico of apartments, and tho remainder, probably about half of tlio total number, will bo available for workmen of privato firms. Care will bo iakon to provide all necessary school facilities, and the Government will also see that tho tramway companies make tho lowest possiblo faros for tho workmen.
