THE KING'S TOUR.

AT ISCHL. (BY TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT.) Vienna, August 12. t The Emperor Francis Joseph and King Edward met at Ischl amid the enthusiastic ovations of the crowds. IDEAL OF A-GENERAL' ENTENTE. In the Paris "Matin" M. Harduin ventures the opinion that King Edward "will finally (tuccced in bringing about an entente cordinle between the two triplices, Germany, Austria, and, Italyi on the one hand, and Britain, France, and Russia on the other." If any such intention is behind the marked activity of King Edward in his European tours, the attitude of the German Press as cabled yesterday is hardly encouraging. Its tendency was to minimise the political importance of the meeting between the Kaiser and the King, and it held out no hope of naval limitation. The Munich "Neueste Nachi-ichten" recently wrote:—"lf Austria-Hungary requires to oppose the Anglo-Russian Macedonian scheme sho will find Germany at her side." The "Rlieinische Westfaelisclie Zeitung," an organ of the industrial interests, says-.—"Britain wants no war. She only wants to checkmato Germany in-order to lame a troublesome rival. Germany in any circumstances' is strong enough, even without her allies, to' maintain her position." The Dresden "Nachrichten":— The policy of encircling Germany is at present the keynote of tho entire ■ international situation. We must recognise this, so that we can calmly gauge the weakness of the circlo and make our arrangements."-
